Life story
February 23, 1983

Kacey Leighann Roberts was born at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Georgia at 2:11 pm.  From day one, our little Kacey was nothing but big brown eyes.  I often compared her to little Gizmo, from the Gremlins.  From an early age, you could tell that she would do anything to make people happy.  She hated to see people sad or unhappy.  She would do whatever it took to make you smile.  At three years old, if you turned on a radio, she was dancing, to the delight of everyone around her.  If you were sad, or heaven forbid, crying, she would talk to you in a voice that was so much more mature than her little age.  As she got older, she would clown around and be extremely silly, just to make you laugh.  She made up an imaginary friend/boyfriend named "Tommy" and make up stories about her and Tommy even up through adulthood.  I remember, she would ask Mamaw Glenda if Tommy had called recently, and Mamaw would just go along with it...she would say, "No, I haven't heard from him."  She wouldn't roll her eyes or laugh or anything...just deadpan..."I haven't heard from him."  Kacey's hero in her early life, and on through adulthood, was her Papaw.  Papaw could do no wrong, and to her Papaw, Kacey could do no wrong.  If anyone "wronged" her, Papaw was always her defender.  Another great influence in her life was her "Uncle Santa Claus," Ray Cowart.  Young Kacey was so gullible, I remember Ray would call her and pretend to be Santa Claus, or anyone else Kacey wanted to talk to, and she would believe it every time.  The point I'm trying to make, is that Kacey had a heart bigger than her tiny little body.  She was so compassionate.

When tragic events happened to her as a young teenager, it was more tragic than I think everyone knew.  This occurrence took part of her soul, I think.  While all the good things were still there, there came some bad stuff, too.  But as fragile as she became, she always kept her love for everyone close to her.  She met a young man, and they had 2 beautiful children together.  She was an exceptional Mother, and as you can see from the pictures on here, that was her biggest joy, her children.  In the end, when she was at her most hopeless, after she gave birth to sweet Kolbee, her beloved children are what kept her going.  Before she left to go be with Jesus, her biggest hope was to try and find a place where she and her children and her Mom could all be together, and happy.  And now, one day they all will be.  In GOD's house.  She is finally happy, and whole.  We all must find the courage and strength to go on without her.

Kacey Leighann Roberts was welcomed home on April 23, 2009, at approximately 1:00 am.

God Bless You All!  With Gods help, and by leaning on each other, we will survive this loss, and perhaps one day, remember Kacey with a smile, instead of sorrowful tears.
